Program Summary
The SCCCD Culinary and Food Systems Management Program in Mexico City and Puebla is a 5-day immersive academic experience in Mexican hospitality and culture. Students will explore Mexico's history, traditions, art, and gastronomy. Students will also meet with leaders in the hospitality industry, including a restaurant manager. Students will gain firsthand insight into Mexican hospitality in both professional and casual contexts.
Itinerary
Days 1 - 4 (June 8-11) SCCCD programming in Toluca with university partner
Day 5 (June 12) Included Meals: Dinner
Afternoon transfer from Toluca to CDMX (2 hours)
Mexico City Walking Tour: the first cathedral built in America, the Great Temple of the prehispanic city of Tenochtitlan, and the National Palace
Welcome dinner
Day 6 (June 13) Included Meals: Breakfast
National Anthropology Museum - one of the most amazing museums in the world
Chapultepec Park - one of the largest urban parks in the Western Hemisphere
Day 7 (June 14) Included Meals: Breakfast
Light hike in Parque Nacional Iztaccihuatl - Popocatepetl - one of the oldest protected areas in Mexico surrounding Mexico's second - and third-highest peaks, the stunning Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes.
Transfer to Puebla
Day 8 (June 15) Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Free time to explore Puebla
Learn about unique artisanal ceramics production with a guided tour of a local workshop and museum
Conversation with management and farewell dinner at the amazing El Mural de los Poblanos, one of the most traditional restaurants in Puebla whose recipes have been inherited by Puebla families for several generations.
Day 9 (June 16) Included Meals: Breakfast
Return to Mexico City and transfer to the airport for departure

Payment Timeline
A non-refundable $300 deposit upon registration
An additional non-refundable $400 deposit due April 1
Balance (approximately $2300) is due May 1
Cancellation Policy
91 or more days prior to departure - Refund excludes $300 deposit
90-61 days prior to departure - Refund excludes $700 deposit
60-31 days prior to departure - 50% of program fee refunded
30 of fewer days prior to departure - 0% of program fee refunded
Deposits will be refunded if cancellation is made by Learn from Travel due to low enrollment. Deposits are non-refundable if the participant cancels.
We recommend all participants to purchase travel insurance with cancellation coverage.
