Program Highlights

A 10-day cultural immersion trip to Nassau, Bahamas, including guided tours of historic sites, educational lectures on Bahamian culture, visits to museums and national parks, service learning experiences with local nonprofits, and participation in the Junkanoo Parade and Independence Day celebrations. Lodging at Towne Hotel and Orange Hill Beach Inn, with various group meals and free time for exploration.

Itinerary 

Day 1

Arrival to Nassau and walking tour. Welcome dinner.

Day 2

Visit to Junkanoo Museum and lecture on culture and history

Day 3

Lecture on Sports Recreation and Tourism at a local university. Tattoo and Junkanoo Parade.

Day 4

Celebration of Bahamas Independence Day

Day 5

Visit to the Bahamas Historical Society Museum.

Day 6

Visit to a family operated farm, a summer camp and the Bahamas Historical Society Museum.

Day 7

Visit to Bonefish National Park. Exploration.

Day 8

Visit to Clifton Heritage National Park. Lecture on Slavery and Colonization.

Day 9

Visit the Primeval Forest National Park. Farwell Diner.
