This 9-day Ireland and Northern Ireland program immerses students in the history of conflict and reconciliation through a mix of educational and hands-on experiences. Activities include visiting the Battle of the Boyne site, a Black Taxi tour of Belfast’s Peace Walls, and exploring the Giant’s Causeway and Glendalough Monastic site. Through expert discussions, volunteer projects, and guided tours, students will learn about the region’s cultural heritage, historic conflicts, and efforts in peacebuilding, while engaging with local communities and discovering iconic natural and historic sites.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival to Dublin. Welcome lunch. Visit of Battle of the Boyne.
Day 2
Orientation in Belfast. Walking tour of Belfast and Peace Walls. Visit and lecture at Clonard Monastery.
Day 3
Community building volunteer project.
Day 4
Free time to explore. Visit to St. George’s Market.
Day 5
Walking tour of Derry with a community peace activist. Afternoon Tea.
Day 6
Visit to Carrick-a-Rede. Visit The Giant’s Causeway. Free time.
Day 7
Visit to a peace and conflict resolution centre. Stop to see Guinness Lake and Powerscourt Waterfall. Visit to Glendalough Monastic Site & lakes.
Day 8
Cliff walk in the surroundings of Howth. Free time to explore.
Day 9
Departure.
