This 6-day Washington, DC program immerses students in a comprehensive exploration of Latino culture, history, and diplomacy. Activities include visits to the Embassies of the Dominican Republic and Colombia, engaging in service learning projects with grassroots organizations, touring significant cultural neighborhoods, and enjoying diverse culinary experiences. Through interactive tours, expert discussions, and hands-on activities, students will learn about Latino contributions to American society, diplomatic relations, and social justice issues impacting immigrant communities.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival to DC. Walking tour of the National Mall. Welcome dinner and orientation.
Day 2
Visit to the Embassy of the Dominican Republic. Grassroots organization service learning day 1.
Day 3
Grassroots organization service learning day 2. Columbia Heights Heritage Trail Tour.
Day 4
Visit to the Embassy of Colombia. Dance class with famous Latino dance crew.
Day 5
Visit to the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Free time to explore. Farewell dinner.
Day 6
Interactive tour of unique neighborhoods. Departure.
