This 12-Day Brazil program immerses students in the rich cultural and environmental landscape of Bahia. Activities include visiting the coastal community of Imbassaí, exploring the Atlantic Forest ecosystem in Itacaré, and experiencing the vibrant history of Salvador. Through guided tours, workshops, and interactions with local communities and NGOs, students will learn about Portuguese colonization, Afro-indigenous traditions, and environmental conservation, while participating in cultural practices such as Candomblé and capoeira.

Day 1

Arrival to Imbassaí. Orientation and welcome dinner.

Day 2

Walking tour of of Imbassaí. Conversation on philosophy and way of life with community leaders.

Day 3

Indigenous rituals, trails, and workshop. Night in Atlantic Forest Biosphere Reserve.

Day 4

Dance celebration, Samba de Roda. Guided Tour in the Quilombo, river bath, and closing ritual.

Day 5

Visit to Concha Beach. Folkloric workshop with dance, music, and conversation.

Day 6

Visit to a community organization resisting the cultural and economic impacts of tourism. Afro Indigenous Dance and Percussion workshop.

Day 7

Cocoa farm visit. Chocolate making workshop.

Day 8

Free Day in Itacaré.

Day 9

Visit to the Community in Nilo Peçanha.

Day 10

Tour of Historic center of Salvador. Visit to a Candomblé house.

Day 11

Immersive Experience in the Lower City. Farewell lunch. Sunset capoeira circle.

Day 12

Departure.
