This 21-day Costa Rica program immerses students in diverse tourism experiences, from popular attractions to hidden gems. Activities include visiting Irazu Volcano, rafting on the Pacuare River, and exploring Manuel Antonio and Cahuita National Parks. Through expert discussions, hands-on activities, and tours, students will learn about Costa Rica’s natural wonders, coffee industry, and the dynamics of tourism, while engaging in sustainability and cultural change discussions.

Itinerary 

Day 1

Arrival to San Jose. Orientation and welcome dinner.

Day 2

Tour of Irazu Volcano.

Day 3

Half-day river rafting adventure.

Day 4 - 10

Homestay in rural community. Immersive experience customized to course topics.

Day 11

Transfer to Manuel Antonio National Park.

Day 12

Guided visit to Manuel Antonio National Park. Sustainability and Tourism discussion.

Day 13

Free morning in Manuel Antonio. Transfer to Alajuela.

Day 14

Free day in Alajuela.

Day 15

Walking Tour of San Jose and Craft Market. Visit to National Museum and Jade Museum.

Day 16

Visit to Pre-Columbian Gold Museum. Tour of Sabana Park.

Day 17

Visit Cahuita National Park. Discussion on National and Caribbean Costa Rican.

Day 18

Guided tour of a sloth sanctuary. Chocolate factory tour and tasting.

Day 19

Free day in Puerto Viejo or Cahuita

Transfer to Alajuela. Farewell dinner.
