This 7-day program in Oaxaca, Mexico, offers students a comprehensive look into the Mexican education system by visiting various educational institutions ranging from preschools to universities. Participants will interact with educators, union representatives, and students to understand the challenges and successes of education in Oaxaca. The itinerary includes cultural and historical tours of Oaxaca’s colonial center, market visits, and natural wonders. Through site visits, discussions, and cultural activities, students will gain insights into educational practices, social enterprises, and the vibrant cultural context of Oaxaca.

Itinerary 

Day 1

Arrival to Oaxaca. Orientation and welcome dinner.

Day 2

Guided tour of Oaxaca. Visit to Instituto Estatal de la Educación Pública Oaxaca.

Day 3

Visit to a Public preschool. Visit to the largest teachers' union in the Americas.

Day 4

Visit to a private middle school. Visit to a public high school.

Day 5

Peer-to-peer exchange with students from local university. Visit to a social enterprise hotel.

Day 6

Visit to Hierve el Agua. Free time. Farewell dinner.

Day 7

Departure.
