This 13-day Costa Rica itinerary immerses students in diverse ecosystems and sustainable energy practices. They will explore volcanoes, zipline through rainforests, and visit hydroelectric, wind, and geothermal plants. Through tours, hands-on activities, and expert discussions, students will learn about sustainable agriculture, wildlife conservation, social justice, and the roles of ecotourism and recycling in environmental conservation.

Itinerary 

Day 1

Arrival to San Jose. Welcome dinner and Orientation.

Day 2

Transfer to La Fortuna. Visit to Poas Volcano.

Day 3

Ziplining tour of the Arenal Volcano. Visit to El Chollin Hot Springs.

Day 4

El Silencio Hike around Arenal Volcano. Non-profit Visit.

Day 5

Tour and presentation of a coffee processing plant. Tranfer to San Jose.

Day 6

Visit to the historic center.

Day 7

Visit to an upcycling studio.Meet with an organisation tasked with creating and enacting rograms for sustainable development.

Day 8

Transfer to Tilaran. Visit to a Hydroelectric Plant. Discussion on Tilaran environmental projects, and challenges.

Day 9

Guided tour of a puma preservation sanctuary. Visit to a wind farm.

Day 10

Visit to a Geothermal Plant. Peer-to peer exchange and Matapalo trail tour. Transfer to Playa Potrero.

Day 11

Trash analysis and guest speaker at Parque Nacional Marino de las Baulas. Exploration

Day 12

Snorkeling Tour of Islas Catalinas. Farewell dinner.

Departure.
