This 10-day Mexico City and Oaxaca program offers students an immersive exploration of Mexican history, sustainable practices, and community engagement. Activities include visits to landmarks like Teotihuacán and Monte Albán, workshops with local experts, and experiences with local businesses and artisans. Through these engagements, students gain insights into Mexico's cultural heritage, environmental stewardship, and economic dynamics.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival to Mexico City. Program Orientation.
Day 2
City exploration and visit to museums. Welcome dinner.
Day 3
Visit to Paraje Quiltepec with a nonprofit organization dedicated to water sustainability. Free time or visit to Coyoacan.
Day 4
Exchange with local and international partner organizations about Mexico’s water. Visit to Teotihuacán.
Day 5
Visit to Xochimilco. Free time to explore.
Day 6
Walking tour of Oaxaca city center. Workshop on artisanal mezcal production.
Day 7
Small group site visits to: Bottling plant in Oaxaca, Tlacolula Distillery, Artisan, Master Mezcalero, or wild agave site.
Day 8
Site visits near San Luis Amatlan. Free time to explore.
Day 9
Visit Ethnobotanical Garden. Guided tour of Monte Albán. Farewell dinner.
