Through educational site visits and tours, students will learn about Martinique’s cultural history and the impact of slavery on the island, as well as the influence and dependency that tourism has brought to its population.

Program Highlights

  • Support a locally renowned Food Bank project

  • Snorkel the reef and hike a volcano

Students will have the opportunity to practice French with native speakers on a daily basis, connect with community volunteering at a food bank, and enjoy the adventure and beauty to be experienced on the Island of Flowers.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive to Fort de France, orientation, meet homestay families 

Day 2

Travel to park and memorial site, learn about indigenous communities, tour Anse Cafard Slave Memorial

Day 3

Volunteer with local food bank, visit La Savane Park, and other nearby monuments

Day 4

Continue food bank volunteer project, cultural culinary excursion

Day 5

Last day of food bank service project, free time with homestay families

Day 6

Snorkeling tour, drive to the western coast to visit a museum and learn the local history

Day 7

Hike Mt. Pelée volcano, time to explore the St. Pierre, farewell group dinner

Day 8

Departure
